The NBA world experienced real heartache on Thursday May 14th 2026 when we learnt of the passing of Memphis GRIZZLIES Forward Brandon CLARKE who tragically was found dead in a hotel room on Weds May 13th. The hugely popular player plied his trade with just the GRIZZLIES since being drafted by them 9 years ago. Brandon was unfortunately (reportedly) dealing with addiction issues recently and we unfortunately lost a real bright smile of the NBA and a player that really did leave it all out there. A unique guy who will be really missed. Later in the day yesterday I also learned of the sad passing of one time Nets Forward Jason COLLINS who achieved immense success during his NBA career on the court not only filling stats sheets, but also by bringing the whole NBA community together when he became the first outwardly gay player in the NBA which caused waves of support for the great COLLINS. He unfortunately lost his fight with a long time illness on Wed May 13th also.
No matter which team we support or who are team is facing in a pivotal game. When news like the sad passings of two really really good basketball players who were also really special unique and amazingly gracious people. RIP guys
